About Us

At The Customized Classroom, we believe that the best learning experiences are personal, powerful, and unforgettable.

Maybe you remember sitting outside with a favorite book on a summer evening, so immersed that the world around you faded. Or perhaps you were drawn into a lively classroom debate, energized by the exchange of ideas. Maybe it was a research project on a famous historical figure that led to a genuine curiosity about their story and the lessons they can teach us. These experiences stay with us not just because of what we learned – but because of how we felt: engaged, seen, inspired.
The Customized Classroom was created to bring that feeling back to learning.
As a longtime classroom teacher, teacher coach, and educational consultant, I’ve worked with students from Kindergarten through 12th grade in both public and charter schools. I’ve seen how over-large class sizes, inflexible curricula, and the pressure of standardized tests can sometimes stifle students’ natural curiosity and learning capacities.
At the same time, I saw the opposite problem in many tutoring spaces – while students had the one-on-one attention that they needed, sessions too often had no structure, no planning, and no real teaching strategy. Students were matched with tutors, but not guided by a meaningful instructional approach. Sessions could feel aimless, with little clarity on how learning was supposed to progress.
The Customized Classroom was born to strategically combine the personalized attention of small-group learning with the structure and purpose of exceptional teaching.
We give students choice, because that’s what gets them engaged. I’ve seen, and research corroborates, how powerful learning becomes when students are given space to take ownership of their learning and explore what excites them.
Our instruction is intentionally designed to be both rigorous and flexible – balancing structure with customization, direction with autonomy, repetition with depth.
With radically small class sizes and expert educators, we make sure every student is acknowledged, challenged, and supported. With various learning tracks, we ensure that students can set out with goals in mind – and then surpass them.
With enticing course offerings and a constant willingness to grow, we celebrate and nurture the natural curiosity and love of learning that we know is inherent in every child (and adult). Learning should be fun. Learning is a natural process. These are our core beliefs.
I still thrill at my quiet moments on a porch with a good book. I hope that your student will find and maintain their spark, as well.

Our instructors are certified teachers or actively pursuing certification, with most bringing years of classroom experience and a passion for student-centered learning.

Tutelage Kits and Personalized Learning Tools

Each teacher has access to physical and virtual Tutelage Kits – custom tools to enrich instruction. In addition, every student receives a Just for Me Fund to support the purchase of books and learning materials tailored to their unique interests and goals.

Flexible Formats for Real Life

We offer in-person, virtual, and hybrid instruction, along with the option for short virtual check-ins that reinforce learning between sessions.

Inclusive Curriculum with a Spotlight on English Learners

Designed by a former Spanish and ESL teacher, our curriculum is designed to support both native English speakers and multilingual learners, with tools and strategies that highlight – rather than sideline – the talents of English Learners.

Curriculum is also designed to be adaptable for Special Education students – our founder and many of our teachers are experienced working with students on the Autism Spectrum, with ADHD, and other special learning considerations, so we can ensure that our courses adequately challenge and support our neurodiverse learners as well!
